London, 21 November - The founder and director of FuturED, Juan Francisco Dávila y Verdin, FRSA, has participated as a keynote speaker in the panel ‘Success stories for sustainable education’.
In the framework of COP29, taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 to 22 November 2024, Filantropía Cortes Solari, through Fundación MERI, is once again organising the SCIENCE FOR CLIMATE ACTION pavilion, together with the IPCC and the WMO, seeking to promote the role of science in decision-making, as well as the dissemination of the technical and social knowledge that the scientific community and social organisations produce.
The panel ‘Success stories for sustainable education’ highlights that environmental education's most important challenges are the lack of permanent learning formats and the need to rescue community and ancestral knowledge in conservation and mitigation.
To address these issues, a panel of experts from various fields, including the public sector, civil society and international organisations, met to discuss the challenges and proposals in environmental education. Among the featured participants was Juan Dávila y Verdin, founder and director of FuturED, who shared his success story in sustainable education. Dávila y Verdin shared his experience on how education can adapt to environmental needs and form citizens committed to climate change.
This meeting represents an opportunity to redefine education as a pillar in the fight against climate change, reinforcing the crucial role of educators and promoting successful examples of environmental education.
