SANTIAGO DE CHILE 2024: FUTURED PARTICIPATED IN THE MINISTERIAL OF EDUCATION AMONG 30 COUNTRIES IN THE REGION

Gonzalo Pereyra de Olazabal, executive director of FuturED, was present at the Santiago 2024 Education Ministerial, held on 25 and 26 January, convened by the Ministry of Education of Chile and UNESCO Santiago, and co-organised by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), the World Bank, and UNICEF

The Special Meeting of Ministers of Education of Latin America and the Caribbean, as part of the agenda "Towards a regional reference framework for the reactivation, recovery and transformation of education", is a meeting that brings together high-level regional authorities in education to address and exchange experiences and advance in the reactivation, recovery and transformation of education, as an accelerator of the SDG4 targets.

The event, which is part of the follow-up to the United Nations Education Transformation Summit, brought together more than 30 countries from the region to work for education in Latin America and the Caribbean, under the slogan "from commitment to action".

Both days were an opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences to design, implement and finance actions aimed at the reactivation, recovery and transformation of education in Latin America and the Caribbean, in order to achieve SDG 4, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal "Quality Education", which seeks to ensure inclusive, equitable and excellent education.

One of the milestones of the Santiago 2024 Education Ministerial is the participation of young people, who made various proposals to the authorities of the region on education.

We thank UNESCO Santiago for extending the invitation to continue working on education in Latin America.
